Aligners or braces: how we help you choose

21 July 2026

Invisible aligners suit many adults who want a discreet option and can wear trays for the recommended hours each day. Braces remain the more reliable tool for some rotations, large gaps, and bite corrections.

During an orthodontic consultation we take records, talk through the likely duration, and explain what each path will ask of you. Aligners only work if they stay in. Braces ask for more hygiene effort around the brackets.

Cost and review frequency differ. Aligners usually mean a series of trays and periodic checks. Braces need adjustments. Neither is a shortcut if the bite itself needs more than cosmetic alignment.

If you have been offered aligners elsewhere without a full exam, get a second look. A pretty simulation is not the same as a plan that protects the roots, gums, and jaw joints.
